Music theory moment

For those of you who have had a hankering for a music theory moment, here’s a Mozart sonata (K. 545) complete with running harmonic commentary (I’m particularly partial to the second inversion of the tonic, but we all have our favorites, eh?):

Cute. I loved the “happy major” I in contrast with the “sad minor” I. My fave has always been V of V. It’s like your favorite movie with the predictable cliffhanger ending. Even though you know exactly what happens next, you get a little thrill every time you watch it.

Emily –ITA on V of V. It’s like Kraft mac and cheese or the Beverly Hillbillies. Hackneyed, and no one wants to admit liking it, but we all do secretly. :-)

So. Funny! I actually love the faces in it. I saw you conduct at AMF, and absolutely loved it!

    Thanks, Abby!
