A “Viral Video” from the Cleveland Orchestra supporting the hometown Cavaliers in their Eastern Conference Semifinal bid:
Props to principal oboe Frank Rosenwein and his stylin’ headband (see it around the 1:29 mark).
Orff is fine and all, but whaddaya say; how about a Minnesota Orchestra version of the Vikings fight song?

Hah…reminds me of how Leonard Bernstein got the Harvard Glee Club to sing a version of a section of Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex, modified to resemble the Harvard Fight Song.
At a concert here some years ago here I heard Olivier Latry, the great French organist from Notre Dame in Paris do an improvisation built on the themes from The Minnesota Rouser (U of M fight song) and “We’re Going to Win Twins.” He scratched his head (to audience laughter) when given the themes, but the result was fan-tastic, so to speak, but also very impressive playing.
I’m in, but not for Skol Vikings. (Hate that song -could we possibly be more collegiate?) We should do an epic remix of “We’re Gonna Win Twins” for when they make their playoff run this fall. Or maybe a full orchestral version of the Wild Anthem, for when they make their next big run for the Cup (currently scheduled for the 2016-17 season, by my calculations.)
Also, not to be a wet blanket, but what is with CleveOrch labeling their vid “VIRAL VIDEO” right in the filename? Isn’t that like calling your new movie “the summer’s biggest blockbuster” before it actually opens?
Sam – exactly, which is why I put it in quotations – trying way too hard to be cool, in my book…
